HOW BOXING ROUNDS WORK
A professional boxing round is 3 minutes long with 1 minute of rest between rounds. Most pro fights run 4 to 12 rounds, and championship fights go the full 12.
MMA rounds are 5 minutes with 1 minute of rest. Regular bouts are 3 rounds; main events and title fights go 5.
If you are just starting out, do not jump straight to 3-minute rounds. Start with 2-minute rounds and 1-minute rest for 5 rounds. When that feels easy, add a round, then stretch the rounds to 3 minutes.
